And some will say that bed is the only place to eat when you’re sick. In the soft coziness of those warm sheets, food is the most comforting and regenerative. The bed becomes the center of healing, the bedroom walls the sphere. That happens.

Not just when we’re ill, though. One of the most welcome tastes on earth is a cup of morning tea brought by someone special, the blinds just up, the duvet snug. Marie Antoinette, who knew about food and pleasure, the retelling of France’s iconic but ill-fated queen. And I’d much rather eat in the bedroom, a space of homeliness and calm, watching my favorite films, than among the stilted tinkling of a twice-a-year dining room.

My grandmother would call it sloth and laziness. Eating their smacks of Neronian excess, or is unpleasantly reminiscent of bed-beached Texans on Channel 4 documentaries, bodies like inflated sweetbreads, wheezily slotting Twinkies into my faces.

“It’s the summer holidays, and we’re free to plump the pillows and sit up with a croissant, a glass of something bubbly and the papers. For those who want them, bed-trays – weird hybrids of footstools and kiddie tables – grace rustling laps. What could be more serene, more pampered and benign, than letting the morning trickle by with a little recumbent snack?”

But one thing you need to know when you are enjoying the time that eating in your bed as I did——it is unsanitary, seriously. Most people know to take their dishes to the sink, but in the extreme cases, it’s like their bed is their dining room and if they don’t clean up, there are a lot of bugs. And what will happen when you leave traces of snacking between the sheets? The most common creepy crawlers to show up? Ants and cockroaches. The people who are sloppy and don’t clean up after themselves are the ones who run the risk, as cockroaches need only a little bit of food to survive. Normally, We advise that people wash their sheets every week, but for those who constantly eat in bed, we will say every three days would be ideal. 🙂

What do you think about eating in the bedroom?
